What is a Domain Name?

Domain name system is like and address book. Where you can find the all websites name which is currently in use or functional for commercial or non-commercial use. Behind every domain name system there is an address available for web hosting.

Domain name system provides a name to specific website. Nowadays, there are million of websites available on Internet. Without Domain name, it is not possible to remember IP addresses of all websites.

In other words, if your website was a house, then your domain name will be its address.

In above given Image, things are inside the computer are website files which we can access by providing the address(Domain name of the website). A domain name can have words which makes it easy to remember website addresses.

What is Web Hosting?

Web hosting is the place where all the files of your website live. It is like the home of your website where it actually available.

A good way to think about this is if the domain name was the address of your house, then web hosting is the actual house that address points to. All websites on the internet, need web hosting.

When someone enters your domain name in a browser, the domain name is translated into the IP address of your web hosting company’s computer. This computer contains your website’s files, and it sends those files back to the users’ browsers.
